Around the Leaf

Every Wednesday, I’ll update you with everything going on around Oak Leaf Church. For this first edition, I want to answer the question, “What’s the vision for the future at Oak Leaf Church.” Here’s nine things that describe our future.

  1. We’re doing more for children and families.  In addition to some behind the scenes things, we’ll put on our own version of VBS this summer.  June 7-11, 2010 for you advance planners.  Our kids will be producing, directing and filming an entire movie throughout the week, which will debut that Friday night at a huge drive in.  That’s VBS Oak Leaf Style!
  2. We’re doing more for students.  Monthly large group events called Fuel are feeding into student small groups, and more adult leaders are getting involved.  Students are serving everywhere in our church.
  3. We’re taking guest services over the top in order to help guests have a good/God experience on the weekends.  Seriously, this about to become the friendliest place in town.
  4. We’re launching a second campus in Canton, Georgia on our fourth anniversary.   In fact, the first Canton Launch team meeting is Sunday night, January 24.  I’ll introduce you to the campus pastor and he will let you know the meeting location.  Exciting stuff.
  5. We’re getting serious about discipleship.  Oak Leaf University has eight core classes designed to educate people about the faith.  Journey Groups will provide a place for people to study the Bible and make friends.  To connect with a Journey, contact Russon.
  6. We’re going to serve our community.  Through events like Second Saturday and intentional partnerships with community organizations, we will continue to be the hands and feet of Christ.  The next Second Saturday is February 13.
  7. We’re going to help start more churches through strategic partnerships and intentional training.  Stay tuned for a big announcement about this.
  8. We’re writing worship music and recording a CD.  The CD will be here by July/August.
  9. I’m investigating steps to start a Hispanic service or launch a Hispanic Campus.  Right now, I’m just exploring, but I believe this is a real things that’s going to happen one day.

Wow. It's Quiet Here...
