Oak Leaf Church at a Glance

Five years ago, I put together a prospectus for Oak Leaf Church (PDF of original document) – a document that described the kind of church we were starting – a sort of spiritual business plan.  This document helped answer the questions of people praying about jumping in or churches thinking about financially supporting us.  A few things have changed, but our core mission has remained the same.

With new staff, new people, and new volunteers, we thought it was a good thing to create a similar document to just let everyone know who we are, what we’re doing, how we do it and where we’re going. The result was a four-page document called “Oak Leaf Church at a Glance.”  It’s a quick overview of our whole church.

If you’re interested, you can download a PDF of Oak Leaf Church at a Glance.

what you need to do is to teach other church planters (and pastors) how to put strategy and bones to statements. i see that as a major problem. lots of guys have pretty prospectuses (prospecti?) but couldn’t figure out what to do with it if they tried. good job!

Thanks Jim. I do agree that this is a big problem. Creating strategy and implementing strategy are two very different things.

Thanks for sharing this. I like how you included your children, student, and adult teaching philosophy in there. And of course, I like that it was Orange strategy, which I’m a big fan of.

I saw your tweet the other day about Baltimore. My wife and I have talked about the possibility of planting a church here for a while, but still have a little ways to go to be ready. This is my hometown and I want nothing more than for a bunch of new churches and refocused existing churches to work together to reach this city.
